Volunteer Centre, Yate

Volunteer Centre closure

It is with great regret that Volunteer Centre Yate & District has decided to close its doors from 31st March 2018.

Our Volunteer Centre has served the local community from its office in Yate Library since 1985 and would like to wholeheartedly thank all the staff and volunteers who have helped to run the centre over the years.

The decision to close the charity was made after much consideration, but it was decided that despite the prospect of future, though reduced income from South Gloucestershire Council, the funding was not enough to continue operating the service beyond March.

Our Volunteer Centre is a small charity and we have found it increasingly difficult to deliver our core work of giving advice to potential volunteers and help local groups find volunteers with the funding available, even though our costs are modest. Fundraising for the services we provide is a challenge, but we are proud to have regularly supported hundreds of groups and charities through volunteer role promotions, information and advice as well as thousands of volunteers over our thirty-plus years

We know that the Council has recognised our contribution to volunteering and the local community and we thank them for their support over the last thirty two years; we are sure they will continue working together with CVS South Gloucestershire to maintain services to volunteers in our area and we recommend visiting the CVS website for community and volunteering information: https://www.cvs-sg.org.uk/

The Volunteer Centre Trustees, staff and volunteers are very proud of what we have achieved and we know that our local community has benefitted from all the volunteers who have walked through our doors. Thank you to our staff and volunteers, the organisations who have used us for helping to find volunteers, South Gloucestershire Council for funding us and CVS South Gloucestershire for their continued support.

We would not have survived so long without the dedication of our Trustees and the enthusiasm and professionalism of our manager, Carole, and team of wonderful volunteers.

Thank you especially to all of you who have used our services and found enjoyment, friendship and fulfilment through volunteering through the years.

We will continue to operate and give volunteering advice until Mid-March, so please come and see us.
